I just completed a gorgeous (if I may so say myself) poster design of Michelangelo's Pietà and made it available on my site as a freely downloadable high-resolution PDF, which you can print out yourself (or order from me — i.e., properly printed).

Since I do a lot of heavy lifting in Photoshop with my huge panorama photos, I'm always chasing the ever-elusive goal of owning the fastest possible Windows desktop computer. Here is a brief summary of my current system specs, along with a few benchmarks.

I am, as of today, an Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) in Adobe InDesign CS3! That means I have subjected myself to a grueling, rigorous technical exam — an exam which I took and flunked, by a few points, earlier this year. So now I retook it and I passed, and am rather happy to have this in the can. I do this, partly for my own satisfaction, as an objective test of my strengths and weaknesses in graphical matters, partly because it allows me to plaster the Adobe Certified Expert logo on my website and business cards, which might have some effect on attracting new clients to tutor in graphical-computerial matters. I'm relieved it's over — for I don't much like exams! (Nevertheless, sometime next year I aim to also take the Adobe Photoshop ACE exam, fool I am.)

For more than a month I've labored on my own to create a handsome and functional free PDF ebook of Henrik Ibsen's great, great verse play Brand — and it went public today! The project page for downloading this free PDF ebook is at www.klausnordby.com/brand. (This is all in Norwegian, alas, both the ebook and most of the web page.)

For more than half a year I've labored with my great old friend Morten Schou-Nilsen to launch a kind of arts & crafts magazine here in Norway called Cornice — and a few days ago our first issue came from the printers! I wrote and designed and edited a lot of stuff in this 24-page magazine and I'm rather proud of the work. Please check out the free downloadable PDF version at the www.cornice.no site (a temporary make-do-for-now site).

Happy New Year! It's 2008 — and I'm re-booting my homepage!
Simply put, I've removed all the homepage links to items I've posted in the past three years. The pages and images are still online, so if you have old direct links they will still work. But I've grown so unsatisfied with most of the photos I've featured that I no longer want to prominently feature them. My knowledge of photography and image-processing has grown quite a bit lately, owing to diligent studies with books and video tutorials, hence I now semi-repudiate most of my old photo work. So I'm starting 2008 on a clean slate.
