It is an undeniable fact that “taste” in color varies greatly from one individual to another. And while there certainly are valid principles for color harmony, so that some color combinations are inherently jarring to people with good color-vision (and good color-taste!) whereas others are harmonious, there is still a great multitude of equally valid options in color combinations — and especially whereas decorative imagery is concerned. Decorations must of course fit in with wall paper, furniture, carpets, etc.
It is in acknowledgement of these facts — personal color preferences and the requirements of interior design — that I offer my Dexplorations in Custom Color versions. So if you like a Dexploration's basic design — its structural pattern — but would prefer it to be in slightly or even totally different colors to better suit your own surroundings, I can accommodate your wishes — maybe. I say "maybe," because you cannot just tell me you want Dexploration X in “chartreuse, vanilla, mauve and daffodil.” That could never work. Instead, you can tell me the general color scheme you'd prefer — “red-orange-yellow” or “blue-green-violet” or just send me a photo with a color scheme you like. On the basis of your input I will then work out some possible new color schemes.
Currently, a Custom Color Dexploration costs $75 in addition to the regular print price. It must be paid before I start making the new color schemes.
When I have created a few good variations — three-four-five— I will email you these small sample files. If you then find one color scheme to your liking, you just tell me so — and I will produce a Museum Quality Signed & Numbered Limited Edition Giclée Print of that Custom Color design. Your Custom Color Dexploration print will be a part of the normal print run, and numbered accordingly: 12/200, 13/200, etc. But your particular print will be marked with a small “cc” inscription, like this 12/200cc, 13/200cc, etc. So, in principle at least, all the prints in a Dexploration series could end up being totally unique — if they're all Custom Color versions.
If you should decide to not purchase a Dexploration print of the Custom Color samples I send you, I will keep the $75 fee to cover my time. |
